About this Workshop
This panel discussion will be led by First-Generation Monmouth students with the purpose to share their experiences and enlighten people about the strengths and obstacles to Monmouth’s
integration of First-Generation students into the campus community. This panel will commence by introducing the members from the E-Board of Monmouth’s First to Fly Club – a student-run organization dedicated to being a space for First-Gen and First-Gen allies.
These leaders all dedicate their time to advocating for first-generation students on campus and giving this group a place to commune and socialize. They offer different resources such as workshops, guest speakers, and simply just being a place where anyone can
feel welcome. The panel is open to take questions about the club as well as first-hand stories about the triumphs and struggles first-gen students encounter and what led them to their club position. Finally, audience members will be able to interact with panel
members directly and ask questions to further gain an understanding of each E-Board member’s journey through First to Fly.
