About this speaker
Gisady Mendoza (She/Her/Hers/Ella) grew up in the Northshore of Massachusetts. Her family immigrated to the United States from the Dominican Republic. She graduated from Peabody Veterans Memorial High School and then went to Salem State University (SSU) to achieve a Bachelor of Science to study Chemistry as a major, concentrating in Biochemistry, and a minor in Biology. Gisady is a current senior and plans on graduating in May of 2023. At SSU, she served as a Success Peer Mentor for the Student Transition and Engagement Program (STEP) for 3 years, as Resident Assistant promoted to Senior Resident Assistant for 2 years, and as Dean’s List for the last 3 years. During her time, she has been able to mentor over 30 Pell-eligible / First-generation students at the STEP program and over 100 students as a S/RA in Residence Life. In May, Gisady has been awarded and is a recipient of the 2022 Outstanding First Year Advocate Award at Salem State University.
