About this speaker

Juana is first-generation Mexican-American, college student, and low-income student. She is studying the biophysics of tissue folding during animal development. She received her Bachelors in Biology, Biochemistry, and Chemistry from the University of Chicago. She is a NSF GRFP Fellow and a Graduate Community Fellow for the Office of Graduate Education. In her free time she enjoys, cooking, experimental baking, drawing, face painting, and helping to build a diverse community at MIT.
