About this Workshop
Convesaciones Entre Amigues, or Conversations Between Friends, is a space open to anyone who is interested in engaging with our panel about the identity of Latine students and the intersection of being a First Gen student or ally. In this session we will be starting with predetermined topics such as using inclusive language while honoring our culture (Using Latine vs Latinx), a sense of belonging and finding community as People of Color at a PWI with overlapping and intersecting identities, personal narratives about overcoming challenges, amongst other topics.
Drawing inspiration from the hit YouTube series Hot Ones, you get to watch us try the hottest sauces while we discuss latine culture and the first gen identity. We challenge you to join us in this discussion and share your thoughts with the group. The intent of this session is to break away from the formalities of a panel discussion, we want you to bring your most authentic self to the room, to laugh or cry with us without fear of judgment, and to have fun, while feeling inspired to be who you are. You can trust that you're in a safe although spicy, space.
